I’ve read tons of thriller novels, and it’s very hard to find one that I don’t guess the plot twist ahead of time. I want something that will make my jaw drop because I’m so blindsided.
I wish I could list the ones I’ve already read but there are far too many, so here are a few of the more “popular” ones of read just so no one suggest them:
Sharp Objects
The Housemaid series
The Silent patient
The perfect marriage
The last house on Needless Street
Rock Paper Scissors
The butterfly garden
Local missing woman
The quite tenant
The wife between us
Never lie
Saving Noah
The Push
The Perfect Child
Lullaby
Confessions
The Silent bride
Lies
Behind her eyes
The wife upstairs
I’ve also read just about everything by Frieda McFadden but open to suggestions in case I missed a good one.

Still Missing
*The Lost Boys* by Orson Scott Card was a true gut punch. There is one sentence that just slammed into me like a freight train.
Whatever Happened to Betsy Blake
I recently finished All the Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham. I also guess the endings of the books and this had twists I was not expecting
on a quiet street by seraphina nova glass and pretty little wife by darby kane
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters
The Couple at Number 9 by Claire Douglas had a great twist. Unfortunately, if you know there’s one coming, you look for it, like I did with Silent Patient. It would be much better if you weren’t aware it was a ‘twist’ book. Daisy Darker had a good twist but was a bit silly and Scooby Doo for me before it came.
The Hike by Drew Magary
Sphere by Michael Crichton
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson
*The Nickel Boys* by Colson Whitehead throws in a huge twist on the very last page that changes the entire book.
*Asymmetry* by Lisa Halliday: I finished this book and really didn’t understand what I just read, so I took to Google for reviews. And my surprise at figuring it out! Don’t look this one up in advance or it will ruin it!
Not really a thriller, but Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picolt had a plot twist that made me slam the book shut and shove it in my purse (we were on a road trip and my husband was driving) just to pull it back out 30 sec later to see wtf was going on.
The two that I often mention are “Gentlemen and Players,” by Joanne Harris and “Hidden Fires: A Holmes Before Baker Street Adventure,” by Jane Rubino. The classic would probably be “Rebecca” by Daphne DuMaurier.
My Summer Friend by Ophelia Rue. It’s one of those, how did I not see it?
Not thriller, but the Lies of Locke Lamora. Really well written, completely unpredictable
Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. Perhaps not a plot twist as you meant it, but it definitely made my jaw drop lol
Perfunctory Affection by Kim Harrison
Maybe I’m just dense, but the “Fight Club” esque story-line totally got me.

I know it’s on your list but I absolutely hated the plot twist of the Perfect Marriage 🫠 It felt absolutely cheap and made no sense to me 😭
The silent patient really got me. I think my jaw literally dropped. I gave a copy to my MIL and I’m waiting for her to tell me what she thinks.
Moriarty by Anthony Horowitz was a solid one for me
Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter
She’s Not Sorry by Mary Kubica
A Prayer for Owen Meany. Best book ever.
The Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway blew my friggin mind man
Not a thriller but The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz was fun like that.
I heard that The Murder of Roger Ackroyd has the best plot twist 🙂
“Goodnight Beautiful” by Aimee Molloy
I haven’t seen this one listed yet: Goodnight Beautiful by Aimee Molloy. A thriller with a twist that totally threw me, I usually see these coming too, but not this time.
Strangers, by Dean Koontz
Out by Natsuo Kirino was a wild ride and had a fast crazy ending that I genuinely didn’t see coming
see [this one](https://amzn.to/3BaORYp)
Rebecca
I’m going to recommend a really old book…. {{The Devil’s Alternative}} by Frederick Forsyth.
Starts slow, picks up pace in the middle, and really speeds up in the end. The final twist blew my mind
Enders game is what comes to mind. Although the biggest plot twist ever was westworld’s seeason 1 finale
Pretty much anything by Jeffery Deaver
My sister’s keeper – the twist made me throw my book across the room!
My favorite twist of all time was in **We Were Liars**
One I never could have seen coming was **The House Across the Lake**
The Enigma of Room 622
Use of Weapons by Iain M. Banks
