books with character development trending down?

weird request but ive always like the books where you have a likeable main character slowly turn from one of your favorite characters to a character that is a complete psycopath or just a cold hard killer completly closing themself off from everyone.

for reference ive always liked the arc of a scythe series for its narcicistic characters
