Whimsy invoking kids books

I've just started reading more 'big kid' books to my 6yo, and we've been reading the classic The BFG by Roald Dahl. My boy really loved the whimsy of it, things like that the giant is the collecter and giver of dreams. Can anyone recommend other kids books that have this style of whimsy nature and storytelling within them? Also looking for books that are more newer, rather than the books I read 20-30 years ago.

I know Roald Dahl has a good collection of kids books, so no need to recommend them please.
