    1. Scuttling-Claws on

Pet by Akwaeke Emezi (well, the protagonist is a kid)

A Half Built Garden by Ruthanna Emerys

Victories Greater than Death by Charlie Jane Anders

These Fragile Graces, This Fugitive Heart by Izzy Wasserstein

    2. *Light from Uncommon Stars* by Ryka Aoki – but be aware that there is a lot of transphobic violence as well as hate speech against the protagonist. Overall, it is a very positive book about finding a safe place to be yourself within a chosen family. But the path that leads there is rough, so take care!

    3. Not the protagonist but very central character – Nothing Ever Happens Here by Sarah Hager Holt (YA but very good)

A Lady For a Duke by Alexis Hall

      The Companion by E.E. Ottoman

      Chef’s Choice by TJ Alexander

Super Late Bloomer by Julia Kaye

    5. Not the main character, but the first book (and film) I recall with a major trans woman character was The World According to Garp, by John Irving

For some trans lesbian horror representation: Boys Weekend by Mattie Lubchansky (cosmic horror graphic novel) and Manhunt by Gretchen Felker-Martin (extreme post-apocalyptic horror, with everything “extreme” entails).

    7. Sure, everyone wants to be represented in media but the percentage of the population that is trans is very small. If you want that representation, you may need to go write it.
