Period piece book written by contemporary author that fans of Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier, Wuthering Heights, Jane Austen would love?

I would love something in a historical setting with some romance but also some suspense or mystery, but written by a modern day author.

I would prefer something set in America but I won’t be too picky about that.

Also bonus points if there’s a ball room scene or something?

Just looking for something from a different time with a sweeping story that’s written by some one from our modern times.
