Why I keep getting recommended Umberto Eco ?

Hello,

Im actually reading count of Monte-Cristo and its actually exceeding my expectations. I’m loving it, but lately Im getting recommended Umberto Eco a lot and I’m hesitant to where to start and have no idea about what it is.

How would you describe Umberto Eco’s universe in a nutshell to someone who has no clue what it is ? And what should I start with ?
