Since Remains of the Day is so highly rated in this subreddit (and on Goodreads for that matter) I am interested in figuring out why.
However, I did not particularly enjoy Never Let me Go. I found the idea very interesting, and the ending satisfying all things considered.
But I found the pace, writing style, characters, and what was actually done with the very interesting idea lackluster, tedious, even boring. So much more could have been done with this world/idea.
Somewhere halfway I started speedreading the rest of the book because I just wanted to be done with it.
Note: I did read a Dutch translation, instead of the original English, which might play a factor.
My main question is, given that I did not enjoy Never Let me Go, will I enjoy Remains of the Day, or will this probably be a similar struggle/letdown for me?
