Can’t say she is my favorite authors, but the Icelandic author Yrsa Sigurdardottir is probably the only female horror author I’ve read anything by so far. **I Remember You** was decent.

Caitlin R. Kiernan is non-binary, but Iām suggesting anyway because everything theyāve written is spectacular. Grab a best of collection or āThe Drowning Girl.ā

I love We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson. Iāve read it several times, and every time I think something slightly different happened.

Listen to me!!!! Try Come Closer by Sara Gran. A woman moves into a new house, begins hearing strange house, and having strange dreams. Short and eerie.
Also try the House Next Door by Anne Rivers Siddons. A woman lives next to a haunted house, where bad things happen.
I rarely see these recommended, but they have a place of honor on my bookshelf ā¤

Riley sager is really good. Theme music is a bit more mystery, but itās creepy. One of those āam I going nuts???ā books. Also the locked door. The author as a person also seems really likeable.
