As someone who loves his bookshelves filled with the books they love one thing I’m not fond of is boxed sets that are just all the books shoved in a small themed box. You can’t normally see the decorated sides and it usually raises the series of novels up a centimeter which is so distracting to me. What are your thoughts?

Depends on the box?
If I discover a new author I really like, and a box set is a way for me to get the books I want in a version I like, but the box is just kind of boring, I’ll usually just pitch it. If the books are designed specifically for the box and the box is high quality and looks good, then I keep it. I don’t care about how high the books are sitting; it’s not like all my books are the same size, anyway, so what does that matter?
