    Hi all,

I'll keep this short and sweet!

I'm looking for an interesting, entertaining account of the life of Julius Caesar. I'm willing to consider some books that are partly fictionalised, but I would prefer non-fic if possible! Apologies if this isn't the most appropriate sub-reddit for this inquiry, I'd post in r/history or other history related sub-reddits, but I'm hoping to find something that is witty, engaging and vivid; I'm not looking for a dry work that only appeals to academics*.

Sorry if the above seems a bit contradictory, but I'm intrigued by accounts of the lives of historical figures, especially accounts that explore the psychology of those figures and conjures them up so it almost feels they're in the room with you. So… if you're scratching your noggin', and you can't recall any books you've read about Caesar in particular, I'd be happy for any suggestions relating to other historical figures if they meet the criteria I've outlined.

Much love to you Redditors, with an additional dose of love to all those who contribute and reply! <3

*Bonus points if you suggest something slightly on the shorter side… I work full time, and I have a bunch of other interests, so I don't have quite as much reading time as I'd like
