It starts to seem as if any book or tv show is about some kind of criminal, most often – serial killers, and I think it doesn't do much good for my mental health. Another turn-off is objectified descriptions of women.
I would love to find some more light-hearted books. I love dreamy and surreal books, even fairy tales. But I'm open to suggestions.
Some books I really love
1. Watermelon sugar
2. Chronicles of Narnia
3. The hearing Thrumpet
I have a special love for occult/mysterious books, but it's practically impossible to find something like that without violence. If you have any suggestions I would love to hear those!

It’s definitely on the younger side but Dealing with Dragons comes to mind
Try Piranesi by Susanna Clark.
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot, cozy read about a Yorkshire Veterinarian.
A Wizard of Earthsea. It can be read as a standalone, so don’t feel obligated to read the rest of the series it you’re not feeling it. Imo the first book is the best anyway. I found it very meditative and atmospheric.
If you’re open to very long books, my favorite is [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s a beautifully written slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships.
Or if you prefer something more poetic and whimsical, I recommend [The Girl Who Drank the Moon](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/b8b6a493-2301-493a-bc3e-d4e79c04f4a3) by Kelly Barnhill.
You might also like [The Goose Girl](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/0117d8d8-2c6e-4763-a377-70724268dc07) by Shannon Hale, which is a beautiful retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the same name. That one can get a bit stressful at times, but it’s still lovely.
