Looking for something preferably with a female MC but I’m willing to read anything. Overall, I’d like to read fiction about coexisting or meeting with or being invaded by aliens. Prefer the aliens to be kinda humanoid? Similar enough characteristics to humans without being too “monster-like”

But I do like if they have their own set of biology, rules, morals, etc, and learning about how vastly different they are.

Also it has to be easy enough to follow lol

I haven’t read much fiction of this kind, so for now I’ll say Bloodchild and Amnesty by Octavia Butler, both short stories. Be warned though, Bloodchild is extremely disturbing and not for those with weak stomachs at all. I read it almost 3 months ago and it still crosses my mind everyday.

    2. Weirdly just recommended this on another thread but Sylvain Neuval’s Sleeping Giants series! It’s about a young girl who happens upon a buried alien artifact. As an adult she’s a physicist working to crack the code of the thing they found. contact is made from the aliens. they end up being a highly intelligent species very similar to humans but way more advanced, and more is learnt about their world etc. I’d recommend them! The first was my favourite but they’re all interesting/enjoyable imo

    3. 3 Body Problem – It is quite an easy read but quite complex in the range of ideas woven together. I am not quite sure at the end what viewpoint the author takes, or indeed any of the characters. Good ethical questions, some visceral horror. a bit of philosophy, some humour and a touch of whimsy.

This doesn’t fit the letter of your request but definitely the spirit: Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky

kind of a basic b answer but All Tomorrows! I love the idea of the Qu and it’s so interesting to me. The art is unique and fun, too.
