Joy Williams’ The Changeling is uncanny, weird, and incredible. If you want a book that makes “sense,” this probably won’t be it.
The Twisted Ones, by T. Kingfisher.
The Hollow Places, by T. Kingfisher
The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson.
We Have Always Lived in the Castle, by Shirley Jackson
Rebecca, by Daphne du Maurier
The Little Stranger, by Sarah Waters
Delicious Monsters by Liselle Sanbury and angel pean
These fleeting shadows by Kate alive marshal
The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas could fit well in the gothic/mystery category. It has a certain similarity to Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.
Tana French In the Woods.
