I would love some recommendations for books that explore the origins of different religions and the concept of God. If you have any great suggestions, I’d really appreciate it! Thank you!
I saw the movie heretic. I like the way the protagonist read many books in order to search for the origin of God.
I read it several years ago so I don’t remember all the details, but *A History of God: The 4,000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam* by Karen Armstrong is probably what you are looking for. It was such an interesting read.

**God Is Not One** by Stephen Prothero discusses the origins and early cultures of the world’s eight most popular religions: Buddhism, Daoism, Islam, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, Yoruba Religion, and Confucianism (with a short section on atheism as well).

The Alphabet Versus the Goddess is really fascinating but I’m not sure it 100% fits your ask.
