My nephew has a newfound love of reading. He wants nothing else for Christmas. I’m looking for suggestions for kids chapter books. He likes adventure books but said “they still have to have some reality”. So I don’t think sci-fi would appeal to him.

He really likes the Wild Robot. He’s read all three in the series. He asked for the Wilder Lore series from my sister already.

I think if it’s a series that would be best too rather than an individual book. And I think he likes that the Wild robot and Wilder Lore are set in nature. I’m stumped though, does anyone have any suggestions for children’s chapter books like this?

What you can do is get him a gift card from his favorite bookshop, that way he can choose his book.

Something I enjoy doing is to add a book with it – a blind date with a book (or hangout in this case).

I love The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The Magic Tree House series has always been fun.

Percy Jackson and the Olympian series.

    2. I have a 9yo. These are some good series: Warriors, Wings of Fire, Percy Jackson, Narnia, Harry Potter, Pax, Menagerie, Ramona, Henry Huggins, and Upside Down Magic.

    3. Impossible Creatures by Katherine Rundell. Brand new hit, target age range, future sequels but I thought it wrapped up nicely as a standalone, too

Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland is an established series with currently 15 main books (3 arcs of 5 books each) and a few side stories (Legends and Winglets)

Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan is an old favorite; I’ve lost count of spinoffs, but the original arc is 5 books. It’s also currently being adapted into an ongoing Disney+ show, and inspired a stage musical called The Lightning Thief. (I don’t recommend the 2010s movies)
