Books with female protagonists closest to Buffy Summers?
Someone witty, occasionally goofy, kind and unfailingly heroic? Not necessarily looking for a book like the show (can be different genre, vibes, etc.) just with a main character like buffy.
Try the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. He is a huge fan of the show and it definitely influenced some of his writing style. The main character Harry definitely fits all of those qualities and so far he has 17 books in the series so you will be reading for a while.

Rose from Vampire Academy and Kat from One Foot In The Grave (forgot the series name..) both are basically Buffy fan fiction
