I have a break between semesters, and I want to read something that hasn't been assigned to me.
I have time to kill, so If I'm enjoying it, I can probably read 300-600 pages a week.
Instead of mentioning my favorite titles, I will say I would prefer if the Sci Fi weren't super heady/cerebral, and would like it to have a fleshed out protagonist with a unique internal conflict. Romance is ok, but shouldn't be a main conflict. I like worldbuilding, tech, war/violence is ok. Post apocalyptica stuff is fine too…
For any fantasy suggestions, I prefer high fantasy over more urban/contemporary stuff. But don't mind some magical realism.
Oh and, 20th century and onward if possible.

Allow me to introduce you to Red Rising.
Children of time by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I’m reading the sequel, children of ruin right now. Been one of my favorite sci Fi series so far, and I think it checks your boxes
