Hi everyone
Well Christmas shopping season is upon us and I’d like to get a book or two for my niece. She turned 11 during the summer. I don’t see her often, but I know when she was in my parents house over the last year she got her hands on my childhood favourites of the Phantom Horse books by Christine Pullein Thompson. Her parents have gotten her the Harry Potter box set for Christmas and for her birthday during the summer she requested the Dork Diaries books so there’s a willingness to try different things there I think.
She plays sports and is at that stage where she really is starting to grow up now too in terms of hanging with her girl friends and doing her hair nice and buying silly little make up bits etc.
Her parents have had a very rocky year and as the oldest child I think she’s probably seen a lot of it, reading has always been a huge comfort to me so I’d love to find something she can get lost in.
I don’t have kids myself so I really have no idea what’s out there in terms of books for her age group at the moment but based on all of that info is there anything anyone would recommend?
