I’ve never been able to finish a fiction book—my attention span just can’t stay engaged with made-up stories. I mostly find non-fiction and scientific literature interesting, but I want to try branching out. I study engineering and most of my time goes to reading and studying.
What are your recommendations? It can be for any genre.
I recently tried starting on Dune, but I seem to keep forgetting too much between my reading sessions. Any tips?

Children of Time could be a good one. Scifi with what to me seems like a solid scientific basis
Any of the Philip K Dick story collections! I find that when I am having trouble concentrating, reading short stories or novellas keeps my attention easier.

The Martian!!!
The Sparrow by May Doria Russell. Sci-fi novel with space travel, aliens, and Jesuits. The science seems pretty legit. Lot of discussion about physics and time dilation and linguistics. Also one of the few sci-fi stories I’ve seen that had an alien planet with multiple cultures and languages
Michael Crichton; I’d recommend starting with Sphere if you’ve never read him before
*Blindsight*, by Peter Watts
The Three Body Problem series is extremely heavy on technology and science. You’d probably love it
Have you tried any of the Neal Stephenson novels?
I always suggest stardust by Neil gaiman to people trying to get into reading, it’s a short, quirky fantasy story with good characters and fun imagery. Moves along quickly and has stakes.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
