Hi all! I'm a teacher so the rec is more for my students than for me. I'm looking for books that are climate fiction but not all ~doom and gloom~ and I'm looking for something by a BIPOC author. I teach 11th and 12th grade, and would love if it is something that hooks youth- this could be because it's YA or a graphic novel, although it doesn't need to be either of those things, and ideally is under 300 pages.
This fall I taught Dry by Neal Shusterman and the readers in the class seemed to enjoy the level of drama, but I want to give them something more hopeful than that! I've also read The Light Pirate and The Great Transition, and decided neither of those was right. I also read Noir, which I wasn't hooked by, but am considering as a fallback.
Any recs appreciated, thanks so much!
