Northeastern US, especially New England, was such a hotbed for literary talent, and I’m really fascinated by that period and the work that came out of it. I’m talking writers like Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, Louisa May Alcott, Edgar Allan Poe, Henry David Thoreau, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Herman Melville, Mark Twain, Washington Irving etc.
Are there any non-fiction books that look into these writers as a group, the kind of work they produced/themes and trends in that work, and the context of that time and place?
Or any fiction novels focusing on 2 or more of these writers?
(And yes, I’ve seen – and loved – the show Dickinson!)
Thank you
