I’m currently reading The Stormlight Archives, which was previously recommended to me and showcases a great example of this in the character, Kaladin. But I’m looking for a fantasy novel with a larger focus on these issues. I’m hoping they’re more connected to the overall plot and at least more prevalent in the characters internal monologue.

Magic’s Pawn (The Last Herald Mage trilogy) by Mercedes Lackey
Fire and Hemlock by Diana Wynne Jones – trauma from parents’ divorce
Time of the Ghost by Diana Wynne Jones – child neglect
It’s not fantasy, but I finished reading Kaveh Akbar’s *Martyr*! last night, which deals with those issues. The protagonist is an Iranian-American writer/poet, recovering alcoholic/addict, who is fascinated by death, it’s meaning and/or meaninglessness, and martyrdom. (He’s also in a homosexual relationship, as are several other characters, if that effects the recommendation).
