A few years ago my mom was getting really down about the state of politics in the US. At the time I got her a Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers which turned out to be perfect medicine. The book portrays a future where humans have learned to live a very tranquil existence alongside not just each other but also the planet. My mom said she liked how it told the story of human's transition from today's society to that portrayed in the book not as a consequence of an apocalypse, but rather as a result of hard work and rising to the challenge. Also, my mom is not much of a reader so the fact that it was very short and the writing was at the middle/high school level made it perfect for my mom. Today, she's probably more down about politics and the future than ever (and who am I kidding, so am I). So I'm posting this to see if lightening can strike twice. I already got her the sequel last Christmas, so now I'm looking for something with similar vibes/themes I can get for her this year.
