i used to be an avid fantasy reader as a kid, and i still love the baseline ideas of it, but the constant repeating tropes of "girl finds boy and they travel to save their world, oh whoops, who would have thought, they're in love now" have been making me scare away from the entire genre as a whole, simply because it's not my type of plot that i enjoy and every single fantasy book that gets hyped seems to have this trope.

i would love to get back into the genre, especially because i miss how it engaged my fantasy and creativity, i tried to get through "six of crows" as a starter but i can't get through it, i can't overlook a plot like this when it's such an overhang to a whole story.

i am okay with it if it's a side trope, like in marie graßhoff's "neon birds" trilogy or karl olsen's "boy in a white room" series, but i would prefer if there was little to no love tropes.

if people could give me a nudge into the direction i am searching for so i can find some authors and series i'd enjoy, that would be gladly appreciated!
