I’m looking for a book suggestion featuring a main character wife who decides to stay with her husband despite his unethical actions against her and also against others too. Her reasons for staying can be out of love for him, desire to keep the family together, sympathy for his flawed personality, understanding that he misunderstood a situation and acted based on flawed information, and her overall duty to the community or kingdom or organization that would otherwise crumble if they were ever to not be together. Open to books in any historical time period. Bonus points for biographies or historical accounts based on real people. Thanks in advance.

ETA: The wife’s actions are also unethical, so ultimately this might not be what you’re looking for, but it immediately came to mind, so I thought I’d put it out there!
A Thousand Splendid Suns comes to mind.
