Essentially, I’m going through a very painful time in my life at 26. I found out a few weeks ago that my mother has terminal cancer and my father had a severe injury rendering him immobile. All of this at a critical juncture in my career. Because of the holidays I’ve been able to get away with taking a few weeks off without taking leave and would love to find books that give me inspiration, perspective, etc.

Are there any books that have gotten you through something unimaginable?

    1. Hey. So idk if you’re religious or not. But for me personally, when I’m going through tough times I really like to read the Bible. It’s a great comfort knowing that God is in control and is with you. Some of my fave verses are Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” and John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” I hope this helps. 🙂

    2. This is why I like crime/detective novels. They have terrible scenarios, but the authors have to make it relatable. To the point where you thank the Lord you are not in that situation. And then everything gets solved in the end. Phew. It takes my mind off my situation in the moment, and also, I feel like, yes, things actually could be worse. It’s a superficial fix but it works for me. Hugs
