    Hi everyone,

I’m doing research for a novel I’m working on and would love some book suggestions. I’ve always been fascinated by authors who were gay (or struggled with their sexuality) and weren’t able to be out about it, often working through these themes in their writing. Think Arthur Rimbaud, Oscar Wilde, or William S. Burroughs.

Right now, I’m reading “Junkie” by Burroughs after watching the film “Queer,” and it’s deepening my interest in exploring other writers who’ve grappled with addiction and questions of identity.

I’m looking for recommendations that span from postmodern writers to more classic eras—fiction, poetry, essays, anything that fits. I’m particularly interested in authors who channel these struggles into their work, whether subtly or overtly.

If any writers or works come to mind, I’d really appreciate your suggestions! Thanks in advance!
