I just finished "The Maidens" by Alex Michaelides and i am SO DISAPPOINTED. I saw a few recommendations of this book here and there saying it had "such a good plot twist"…it was predictable. SUPER PREDICTABLE. Like the "i saw it coming from a mile away" kind of predictable.
I just pushed through the book even though i was bored because i wanted to see for myslef if the plot twist is really that mind blowing. And it was. It blew my mind. I lost all rationality because my mind wasn't able to comprehend the fact that i wasted 3 days on this book. I could've read something so much better 🙁

I have found that if a book is touted as having a big twist that the twist was obvious fairly early on. Good reads do not need to scream there is a surprise.
The more people are going to say there’s a plot twist: the less of a plot twist it becomes. Because at that point you’re just waiting for it.
I’ve read a couple of his books and they’re okay. Not great by a long shot, but readable and quick. I have family members that love them, though.
