I am a very big fan of dystopian novels and I especially like very precise and realistic ones. That being said me and a colleague discussed over reading Fahrenheit 451 and 1984 (we will eventually read both), I wanted to maybe get some help to decide if it makes sense to read one before the other maybe to get a better image, especially when Fahrenheit 451 is appearantly getting banned in the US (I'm german)

It is pioneer of its type. You might get hundreds of dystopian stories better than 1984 but in the end they all are inspired by 1984. It sets a benchmark. So go for it first then F451.

1984 is better written. They’re both good reads.
