Aside from Solomon Kane himself (whose Puritanism interacted in interesting ways with his repressed desire to go rampaging like a Viking), are there any other good sword and sorcery stories where the protagonist is a religious fanatic, and basically remains so through the conclusion of the story?
I ask because sometimes you'll see monster/witch/sorcerer hunters with the paraphernalia associated with an inquisitor or similar, but they're often cynical or disbelieving below the surface. Or not religious in the first place; just professionals doing a job. Robert E. Howard's Solomon Kane wasn't exactly the most observant Puritan, but for the majority of his corpus, he seems at least to have been convinced that he was an observant Puritan, and it was interesting to see how it provided the motivating engine to keep him going. Plus, it was kind of fun to read about the guy going through vampires, wizards, pirates, and other miscreants like a Calvinist terminator.
Is there any other fanatically religious sword and sorcery protagonist with something like Solomon Kane's single-mindedness?
