Looking for a book for my dad. He's a horror fan but also a history nerd (studies 2nd century lit and does Indiana Jones type archeological digs for work). He loves Stephen King, Lord of the Rings is on a every 5 year reread list for him. He loves Rosemarie's baby and Who Goes There? Recently he really enjoyed a few non fiction books about people trapped in blizzards.
He also is interested in books with urban settings-though he hasn't really found any horror books that do that well.
Any recommendations for horror stories, with maybe history/archeology, and urban settings, plus if it has winter vibes. I know this is a strange combination- but I can only hope!

COLD by Drew Hayden Taylor might be up his alley. It’s not straight horror in the King vein, but it has horrific elements about a supernatural creature hunting a woman from city to city in wintertime. Set in modern Canada, deals with Indigenous history a bit, snappy writer with some good humor, and some gory kills as well.
