I picked up reading again this year. Out of 6 books, I’ve only made it through two, the rest lost my interest.
The ones I finished were The Blacktongue Thief (just finished today) and The Old Man and the Sea. I know they aren’t necessarily the most similar choices.
The thing that really kept me hooked in The Blacktongue Thief was the unreliable narrator and his charm. The delivery of this story was amazing. My favorite aspect of The Old Man and the Sea was the constant, fast paced, well illustrated action.
I don’t know if it matters but the books I gave up on were Dune while I was halfway through. The rest I barely made it through a quarter of the book; For Whom the Bell Tolls, Metamorphosis, and Senna vs Prost.
I also prefer audio books cause my hands and eyes are always busy with one thing or another and the only way I find time to read is multitasking, so a high quality production is kind of an important factor for me as well.
I really struggle to retain attention with books but it’s one of my favorite activities, if you guys have any ideas to offer it would be a great help. Thanks in advance!
