I love books that are inform you about a topic but are written in an engaging way and require no prior knowledge of the subject. For example ones I've really enjoyed:

    • The Big Oyster: History on the Half Shell (about the history of oysters in New York)
    • The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat (about rare neurological conditions)
    • The Arcanum: The Extraordinary True Story (about the discovery of the formula for porcelain in Europe)
    • 1491: New Revelations of The Americas Before Columbus

I'm down for science, history, anything. I feel like it's rare to find these books that teach you something but also really grab your attention and make you want to keep reading. Any recommendations? TIA!

My favorite nature books seem to fit this ask: On Trails by Robert Moor and Seeds by Thor Hansson

How the World Was One by Arthur C. Clarke and The Victorian Internet by Tom Standage.

It covers my field of RF Communications and Computer Networking.  Both spend a good time covering the telegraph and (in my opinion) that is the best way to explain how the Internet, cellphones, and everything else talk to each other with works.

      Good books and very approachable.
