Book recommendations for someone who hasn’t read in years

Hi everyone! My mother's eyesight has gotten to the point that she can't read regular print books so I told her I would set up her old Kindle. I want to load some books onto it and would love suggestions. She hasn't read in a while and primarily read crime fiction in the past so anything she might have missed is a welcome suggestion : )
