My friends have children between the ages of 0 (in utero) – 8.
All are mixed so I would love to help them navigate their space and their idea of themselves as they get older.
As a child of an immigrant, the experience of growing up was different than those who are white and would have benefitted from those who had similar experiences and how to work through it.
Thanks!!

Picture book: The Day You Begin by Jacqueline Woodson (not mixed race especially but a lovely book anyway)
Middle grade book: The First Rule of Punk by Celia Perez
They might be a little bit too young, but Rick Riordan’s Kane Chronicles are narrated by two mixed-race siblings, one of whom can pass for white and one of whom visually is identified by others as a young Black man. It’s a fun fantasy trilogy where it turns out that they get involved with the Egyptian gods, it just might be something they might enjoy reading in a couple of years! (or the 8 year old/older children might really enjoy having it read aloud to them now).
