Growing up, I loved these books. I still do, but I used to, too.
I even own a few of them I picked up from thrift stores, and they're always inspirational and make me want to write. I love that they have pictures and diagrams for things like pieces of armor, layouts of castles, and boats.
They go into a fair amount of depth for some things, but for others, I've found myself wanting/having to look up more details elsewhere.
Is there – for lack of a better way of saying it – a similar set of books that provide the pictures and diagrams, but have more substance? I'd love to get my hands on something that showcases how medieval ships and harbors operated, the types of homes people lived in, and so on.
