I recently finished Piranesi by Susanna Clarke and absolutely loved it. I generally find a lot of mystery books revolve around a central crime/murder. Which I don't mind! However, I am more interested in the mystery of the world, where the character slowly unravels what's been going on, uncovers truths/deception etc..

Add in a little bit of fantasy/SciFi and it feels like my cup of tea.

    Help would be appreciated!!

    1. I’ll suggest Definitely Maybe by Boris and Arkady Strugatsky. Something isn’t quite right but it takes a while for the protagonist to get a handle on it. The Strugatsky brothers have a few sci-fi books with a central mystery if you are enamored with their style.

    2. In the Blink of an Eye by Jo Callaghan. In the near future a detective and an AI hologram are partnered in a pilot program and need to find out why people are disappearing. “AI versus human experience – logic versus instinct. With lives on the line can the pair work together before someone else becomes another statistic?”
