The Martian by Andy Weir – it’s recommended a lot for good reason. Really easy to get hooked into this one, exciting and also humorous, realistic sci-fi. The main character is so easy to love, and he gets into an impossible situation but relies on his wits and science to survive. I read it in one sitting and I’m not a fast reader.
Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card – easy read but an intelligent and mind-bending sci-fi coming-of-age adventure. You’ll be surprised where this read takes you.
Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams – This is a very short and super easy read, and it is absolutely the goofiest, most absurd sci-fi book out there, but with good British sensibility. Like if Monty Python was in space and everyone was on psychedelics.
