I’m not a big reader, but I really want to give it a go this year. I’ve read a fair few classics in years past but have struggled to find anything which grips me recently and will often resort to TV, video games or scrolling…
Does anyone have any books I could give a go that are page turners? Open to all genres but have a particular fondness for dystopian novels.

Scythe by Neil Shusterman
The Devotion of Suspect X by Keigo Higashino
This book has the best hook I’ve ever seen. The hook occurs pretty early, it is on page 38 of the paperback. The book is about 300 pages, so it’s not that long. I don’t wanna say too much about it, I think it’d be better to go in blind. I was supposed to read over the span of weeks for a bookclub, but I ended up reading it in one day. That’s how strong the hook was. Just trust me, bro.
Monsters by Emerald Fennell. If you enjoy dark humor, this book will hook you instantly.
Old Man’s War by John Scalzi.
