Is there a serious book about somebody who gets superpowers and where we see the repercussions of that?

What I mean with serious is not just a highschool super hero comic or manga but actually a story where an everyday guy gets powers or something along the line and then he has to go underground, hide from the government, or just straight up hoes public about it and where we really see how his family & friends cope with it, what the repercussions around the world are, etc.
