Fantasy Book Recommendations

Does anyone have any good fantasy book series’s that they’d recommend? I’d like a story about a guy who gains some sort of ability and has to go on a big adventure (I know how rare).

Hopefully it’s a series I haven’t already read but I’d like something long that doesn’t detach to much from the main character. I’ve just read so many like this that I want more.
