When I was in middle school I absolutely loved the series uglies by scott westerfeld. I reread them recently and enjoyed them, but they did not live up to the hype in my own head.
When I first read them the world building was super captivating and awesome. This time they kind of fell flat. I was left wanting more and the story just unfolded too quickly.
I would love an adult version of this series. YA would even be okay since I’m pretty sure these would be considered middle grade, but adult or new adult target audience would be best.
Open to books with a similar vibe or fanfic that’s directly based on the world/characters.
Please please please tell me someone has a rec like this!
