can have horror and/or fantasy, as long as they are fast-paced. preferably written by a woman. about adults, not teenagers.
here are books i’ve read in this vein recently:
-house of hunger (loved it)
-the luminous dead (very boring, did not enjoy)
-bloom (it was good)
-currently reading sarah waters books
thank you in advance for your recommendations!

The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson is in the fantasy political intrigue vein. So if you enjoy that type of thing then I definitely recommend.
The Dead Take The A-Train.
