    Hi all,

Wondering if someone can help. I'm a teacher, and looking to add a different book to next year's syllabus. We have broad theme of dystopia, but I can certainly stretch it to any sort of society-gone-wrong concept (war, disaster etc).

    But I would also like:

A female author (it's very male heavy for the other books)

Novella length (around 150 pages ideally)

Not Shirley Jackson or The Giver or Ursula le Guin (done in other years)

Suitable for high school (not too gory or explicit)

Not part of a series (unless the book can stand alone)

Does such a book exist? I have been searching but cannot find anything. I'm hoping I've missed something obvious, so any suggestions would be most appreciated. Many thanks!

    1. I who have never known men by jacquline Harpman is a good dystopia at 188 pages, however I don’t think it would be suitable for younger high schoolers, but if they’re in the 16-18 range it would probably be ok – I’m not great with knowing what appropriate for different ages but a suggestion for you to read and decide.
