I bought my wife Piranesi for Christmas
After seeing it on a Reddit recommendation page. She absolutely inhaled it and I was hoping to get any other suggestions in that vein so I can continue to look learned and discerning. Thanks 🙏

There’s nothing really like *Piranesi*, and that’s one of the things that makes it so great! (Although apparently it was inspired by *The Invention of Morel* by Adolfo Bioy Casares, which I haven’t read.) However, one of the cool things about it is that you don’t know exactly what’s going on at first, and only gradually figure it out. [This post](https://www.reddit.com/r/suggestmeabook/comments/v5olak/books_where_you_dont_really_know_whats_going_on/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) from a few years back has other suggestions along those lines. I agree with the top suggestion of *Lincoln in the Bardo*.

    2. That’s the real question isn’t it. I just reread Piranesi twice more because it’s peerless 😭
