Just put in a hold request for The Library at Mount Char. While I wait, what are some other novels involving a library? Looking for thriller, horror, mystery, speculative fiction, or SF, and it should suspenseful, metafictional, edgy, terrifying, and or weird. The more literary the better. Nothing hokey or heartwarming.

The Sorrow Proper by Lindsey Drager! It’s pretty surreal literary fiction about a library closing, a librarian, and some related things. She is one of my favorite contemporary authors.
Another very different option is Life is Everwhere by Lucy Ives which is a meta novel that largely takes place in a university library but it’s not exactly about libraries.
