My husband (25m) needs to read a book. He’s going a bit stir crazy in our new area. He’s never read a book all the way through but said he’d be interested in reading something with the LOTR / Hobbit vibes. Not HIGH fantasy romance like I prefer to read. He’s also a realist guy who has a hard time picturing things. All that to say, I asked ChatGPT… not my favorite thing to do but it had some good suggestions. I narrowed the 10 down to 5, then went to our library’s website and narrowed the 5 down to 2. But I would be open to buying him a new book if I thought he’d really like it. Allllll that to say, if you’ve read any of these titles, what would you rate them? And would they be good for someone who’s not a huge reader?
-
The Way of Kings (The Stormlight Archive #1) by Brandon Sanderson.
– great author. We started Mistborn on audible but the world building was too intense for him to follow so I’m not sure? -
The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time #1) by Robert Jordan
– I know nothing about this series. Our library has multiple copies including a graphic novel? -
The Blade Itself (The First Law #1) by Joe Abercrombie
- our library doesn’t have it at all. Haven’t looked anywhere else for it. ChatGPT says it could be a little hard to find.
-
Blood of Elves (The Witcher #1) by Andrzej Sapkowski, Danusia Stok (Translator)
– he’s played the game and started the show (but didn’t finish it). Our library has a copy. -
The Dwarves (Die Zwerge #1)by Markus Heitz
- library doesn’t have a copy and it seems a little obscure?
My plan is to get him one of these books and use an audible credit to get the audiobook (as long as there is one, I haven’t checked) so he can listen AND read it? Hopefully that can catch his attention? He’s tired of being on his phone.
