Hi everyone,
I hope you’re having a great day, and thank you for taking the time to read my post!
I’m looking for recommendations for 2-3 books to gift a lady in her late 20s who is a passionate reader. She’s read hundreds of books, and I’d like to explore different genres/types to surprise her. Here’s a bit of context to help you get a sense of her preferences:
- Background: She speaks multiple languages but always reads in English. Her studies and work are related to business, accounting, and finance. We’re based in Singapore and have a Southeast Asian background.
- Reading Habits: She mostly reads on her Kindle during commutes or free time. She doesn’t have a strong preference for a specific genre and enjoys exploring a wide range of books. Her reading journey began with fantasy classics like The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter. Over time, she’s ventured into economics, business, sci-fi, biographies, self-help, and more.
- Current Reads:
- The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt
- Hitler by Volker Ullrich
Here are some books she’s read and loved:
- Leonardo da Vinci by Walter Isaacson
- That Will Never Work by Marc Randolph
- Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer
- Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari
- Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson
- Unnatural Causes by Richard Shepherd
- Justice by Michael J. Sandel
- Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker
- Bad Blood by John Carreyrou
- Mindset by Dr. Carol S. Dweck
- Surrounded by Idiots by Thomas Erikson
- The Undercover Economist by Tim Harford
- Billion Dollar Whale by Bradley Hope and Tom Wright
She has also enjoyed books from authors like Dan Brown, Sophie Kinsella, Stephen King, and series like Sherlock Holmes, Eragon, and Good Omens.
I’d appreciate any recommendations, especially titles that might be less common in Asia (as she might already have them on her Kindle). Thank you so much for your suggestions!
