Suggest me a book about living through hard times

Set in the turned of the century between 1900-1940 or so

Great Depression, The Dust Bowl, The Great War, poverty and slums, etc

Could be nonfiction could be educational, could be historical fiction (and any subset like crime, romance, domestic, etc)

Just stories about people living through thier times, hardship, making ends meet, the lengths they go to or just with it in the background

Already have Grapes of Wrath on my TBR to reread, and I've read Sold on a Monday
