want to get back into reading, please help!

i used to read a lot as a kid, but stopped around 8 years ago. i've read a few books in the last few years while on vacation but i want to make an effort this year to read at least one book a month.

books i've read and enjoyed in the past:

harry potter series
percy jackson (up to the last olympian)
artemis fowl series
the hobbit
jurassic park + the lost world
the couple next door by shari lapena

there was another thriller/crime novel that i cannot remember the name of, but the plot involved a widowed mother whose daughter has the same illness her husband passed of and they go to stay at a hotel where a bonnie and clyde type couple are holding the staff etc hostage? it was quite good!

so i like crime/thriller and fantasy novels, any recommendations in either of those genres (or further afield that have similar vibes) would be great!
